3 Ways to Charge The Lithium Trolling Motor Battery
LiFePO4 batteries offer versatile charging options, allowing you to keep them powered efficiently no matter your environment. Here are three reliable ways to charge your battery:
LiFePO4 Charger (AC-DC)
For a fast and efficient charge, use a 43.8V 25A AC-DC charger. In just 2 hours, your battery will be fully recharged, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum performance. This is the go-to method for quick, convenient charging at home or in any location with AC power access.
Solar Panel + MPPT Controller
For eco-friendly charging, harness the power of the sun. With a solar panel setup of at least 600W, paired with an MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) controller, you can charge your LiFePO4 battery in just one sunny day. This method is ideal for off-grid applications or environmentally conscious users looking for renewable energy solutions.
Generator + AC-DC Charger
When access to solar power or grid electricity is limited, a generator can be an excellent alternative. Using a 43.8V 25A AC-DC charger connected to a generator, you can fully recharge the battery in just 2 hours. This option is perfect for remote locations or as a backup charging solution during emergencies.
100-120 lbs trolling motor
Upon receiving your battery, please be aware that it may have a low State of Charge (SOC) due to transportation and storage. To ensure optimal performance, we recommend charging the battery immediately to prevent over-discharge.
For Bluetooth batteries, they may arrive in an off state, showing a virtual voltage of 3V to 5V at the terminals. This is normal and can be rectified by using an AC-DC LiFePO4 lithium battery charger or an MPPT solar charge controller to charge the battery for 3 to 10 seconds, which will activate it for normal use.
If you intend to store the battery for an extended period without use, charge it to a SOC between 30% and 50% and perform maintenance every three months. This practice will help maintain its functionality and performance over time.
Normally, it's not recommended to use a battery designed for a trolling motor in an electric outboard motor since the surge discharge current might not be sufficient. Outboard motors often require higher power for acceleration and sustained operation, which can lead to higher surge currents that trolling motor batteries may not handle well.
If you’re planning to use an electric outboard motor, it’s best to invest in a battery specifically designed for such applications like LiTime Outboard Motor Batteries. These batteries are built to handle the high power requirements and ensure optimal performance and safety.
