    FAQ

Q: Can I use LiTime LiFePO4 lithium batteries as starting batteries?

    A:

No. LiTime batteries are deep cycle, please don't use it as a starting battery. If you need the marine starting batteries, visit LiTime 12V 20Ah Marine Cranking or 12V 140Ah Dual Purpose battery to choose.

Q: What to do when receive the battery?

    A:

When you receive your battery, please be aware that it may have a low State of Charge (SOC) due to the transportation and storage process. To ensure its optimal performance, we recommend charging the battery right away to avoid over-discharge. If you plan to store the battery for an extended period without usage, we suggest charging it to a SOC of 30% to 50% and performing maintenance every three months. These steps will help maintain its functionality and performance over time.

Q: How to Charge the battery?

    A:

The LiTime 24V 25Ah battery supports three charging methods.

    1. It can be charged in approximately 5 hours using a 29.2V 5A LiFePO4 battery charger.

    2. Charging via a solar panel (MPPT≥200W) provides an estimated charge time of 1 day.

    3. A 12-24V DC to DC battery charger can charge for this battery.

    Analysis based on hands-on experience

The battery has shown promising performance, though there are a few considerations for packaging, setup, and operation. Below is an analysis based on hands-on experience:

    Delivery and Packaging
The battery arrived in good condition. While the main components were safe, additional padding on the sides would enhance confidence in shipping durability.

    Initial Performance and Measurements
    - Initial State of Charge (SOC): Out-of-the-box, the battery measured 26V, corresponding to about 25% SOC. This is fairly typical for lithium batteries during storage.
    - Charging Setup: Connected to a Victron MPPT 75/15 controller, it quickly pulled 10A (~270W) from a solar array with a total output of 400W. This efficient charging aligns with LiFePO4 technology's ability to accept high current input.

    Consumption and Overnight Discharge
    - Power Draw: With a load of ~8W/hour (190W over 24 hours), the battery voltage stabilized at 26.44V overnight. This is an expected and satisfactory performance for light loads like a router and PTZ wireless camera (consumption ~5–8W).
    - Parallel Configuration: Adding a second battery in parallel improved performance further, stabilizing voltage at 26.54V with the same load. This demonstrates the scalability and consistent performance of these batteries in parallel setups.

    Cost-Effectiveness
The battery was a bargain considering its specifications:
    - Capacity: 24V, 25Ah
    - BMS: 50A capacity
The price-performance ratio is excellent, particularly for budget-conscious users looking for reliable energy storage.

    Winter Preparation
    - Cold Weather Concerns: These batteries lack built-in freeze protection, an essential feature for winter usage. However, integrating a Victron temperature sensor to disable charging below 5°C is a smart workaround.
    - Heated Storage Solution: The plan to house batteries in a refrigerator with DC-DC step-down conversion for heating is innovative. Ensuring a stable temperature will prolong battery life and maintain performance.

    Final Observations
The batteries perform well under moderate usage and offer excellent scalability for parallel configurations. The robust BMS provides safety, and the energy density is competitive for the price. While packaging and freeze protection could be improved, these are minor drawbacks compared to the overall value.

    Pros:
    - Affordable, especially during promotions.
    - Efficient charging and stable voltage under light loads.
    - Scalable for higher capacity systems.

    Cons:
    - Limited freeze protection requires external solutions.
    - Packaging could be more robust.

    Rating: 4.9/5
Highly cost-effective for light to moderate loads, with thoughtful planning required for winter operation. A great option for those balancing performance and budget.
